Welcome From A Birdy!
Hi friends old and new, critters furry and feathered, and any others who have drop by. Warm welcomes from this Birdy to you! I’m a Seattle-based, queer trans woman, avian furry, burnt out naturalist, kink-friendly leatherworker, and occasional artist. I’m also the founder of Bird Brain Leatherwork as an attempt to make a meager living doing something I enjoy.
Bird Brain Leatherwork was born from the need for more stable income in a very unstable time of my life. For over a decade now, I built a career doing one of the things I did and still do love: teaching about the outdoors. Unfortunately, in June of 2024 my position was suddenly dissolved after unexpected financial strain. This left me without a job, without a home (yay employee housing!), and without much of a job market in my field to work with.
For the past 6 months and I have been working hard to find a stable jobs. After being the finalist in over 2 dozen hiring pools, I’ve recently found it harder and harder to even get a call back. More recently, I’m having a hard time even finding job opportunities available in my field. This uncertainty has let me to pursue the creation of Bird Brain Leatherwork.
Throughout these uncertain months, I have rebuilt my love of working with leather and crafting things in general. What started with some old tools and scrap materials, has grown into this new small business! I love creating things, especially for people. So, it made sense to finally start a tiny business where I could do just that.
I offer both pre-made and custom leatherwork from facemasks to collars, cuffs, and more. I can also do custom commissions for many more creative ideas. So whether your a LARPer, a furry, a cosplayer, or even just a pet owner looking for a new dog collar; I’m happy to help make your ideas and vision a reality!
Any purchased products or donation support through my Ko-fi will also help me develop more cool things. It will help with creative projects, patterns, learning new skills or art, and acquire equipment or tools I might need. It will also allow me to worry a little less about my bottom-line budget for life.
So again, warm welcomes from this Birdy to you Thank you so much for your visit and potential support! It means the world to me. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask about a project or any other questions you have!
Oh! And find me on social media for more updates and other stuff!
