Spring Sale and Design Updates
Spring has arrived! With it comes a whole host of updates, improvements and a Spring Sale. First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who has supported this business and ordered something, whether it was something small or something big, your support has been incredible and has helped make this little dream business of mine a reality. The truth is we still have a long way to go before this business is completely self sustainable and I’m no longer worrying about my immediate bills, but to get the support I have in just over a month has been so very appreciated! I cannot express my thanks enough!
One of the main things I’ve been working on is an update to the design of my collars and cuffs based on the feedback I’ve received from early orders. The main change is around how many Chicago screws are used vertically on my designs. Originally, I was only placing one screw on either side of D rings and other hardware. This worked and is plenty strong, but I was finding that the D-ring and other hardware had too much give and was able to slide around under the leather a little too much. To solve this, I’ve begun using two Chicago screws on either side of the D-ring or other hardware for most of my 1 inch designs. The 3/4 inch designs will all continue to have a singe Chicago screw as that is what fits best for the leather size. The pictures below hopefully help showcase that decently, but if you have any questions, please let me know!
Consequently, I’ve had some people ask why i use Chicago screws if there is a chance they might come unscrewed. The main answer is that I think they both look better and tend to last longer than most standard rivets. They also hold up against skin oils just a little better than the thin rivets seen elsewhere. I still use those rivets on occasion, but they are often in places where skin contact will be minimal. One additional benefit to the Chicago screw is that it means pieces of hardware like buckles and some D-rings can be replaced if needed without losing the whole product.

The Creativity of Custom Work
The amazing support and orders in my first month of operation also means I’ve gotten to craft some amazing new projects and create some lovely designs for people. I’ll do my best to showcase some of those below because I’m proud of them and always excited to see what combinations and projects people want to me to produce!
I’ve also been hard at work making some Pre-Made items that are already available in my shop or will likely become available soon! To be honest, Pre-made items are something that I’m not sure exactly how to handle as the store grows and develops. Personally, I like making them, and they are a great way for me to try new things, do updates to my designs and be creative. I would absolutely love to be able to go to festivals or markets and sell in person which requires that I have stocked inventory of pre-made goods. The challenge is that my pre-made designs haven’t really sold at all since the shop opened which makes it really hard to justify making more of them, let alone enough of them to stock a vendor booth at an event.
Ultimately, I need to be sure I’m investing in materials and equipment responsibly and making enough money to effectively pay my bills since my current job ends on April 15th and despite my best efforts, I still don’t have anything lined up. Ultimately I need to pay rent, car payments, insurance, food, and other bills, so I really do need good sales going into next month and beyond.
With that in mind, and in the hopes of generating interest in my pre-made items, I’m hoping a sale might help!
From April 1 – April 5, 2025 is my Spring Cleaning Sale that will add a 15% discount.
Help me clear my current stock of pre-made items, show me if its worth keeping more stock around, and enjoy a discount on some really great items!
Finally, if you have any ideas, suggestions, or thoughts on new products, updates, or issues you might have with the site, please email me! Always happy to help provide new things, get creative, or fix problems.
As always, if you feel like tipping my work or just supporting a Birdy who is still looking for work, you can do so By ordering from this store (you can now tip me at checkout!) or you can support me directly through my Kofi
Thanks!
